Media - Instrumentalists
We have so many opportunities on Cape Cod to make beautiful music with some of the finest players and vocalists anywhere. Regardless of the style of music, you'll never be bored. There's lots to enjoy and follow here on the Cape.

I have the good fortune to play with several different individuals and groups. Each group has its own unique flavor and sound, which I do my best to complement. I'll outline a few for you...
Bert Jackson Quartet
Bert Jackson is doing great things with his quartet, and calls on me every once in awhile to help out, to my great delight every time.

One of the great things about Summer is the opportunity to play outdoors. Above, we played an evening at Mashpee Commons, with Bert Jackson on guitar, Kareem Sanjaghi on drums, Michael Ryle on bass, and yours truly on piano. Can you say fun? Just one look at Roe and Kareem's faces tells you how much we enjoy what we do. This is the view from where I sit. Can you say infectious? Sure you can!

Roe Osborn on bass, Kareem Sanjaghi on drums (behind Bert), Bert Jackson on guitar, Paul Lesniak on sax, Mark Borgmann on piano. The following Bert Jackson Trio audio was recorded live at a recent Wellfleet Preservation Hall outdoor event. Bert Jackson on guitar, Kareem Sanjaghi on drums, Mark Borgmann on bass and piano.
It's said that variety is the spice of life. The Mojo Kings Showband delivered a high-energy mix of blues, funk, rock and soul at venues Cape-wide.
The Mojo Kings at Yarmouth Seaside Festival
Above, we enjoyed a glorious sunny Sunday afternoon at the Yarmouth Seaside Festival with an appreciative, enthusiastic crowd!

Sharkz (various flavors - duo, trio, quartet...)
![]() John Shaw (sax & flute) and I team together as the core of the Sharkz, focusing on the tunes of the Great American Songbook, and especially many of the favorites of renowned and deeply missed trumpeter Lou Colombo, who has touched both of our lives.
I played with Lou many years ago, reconnecting on my return to the Cape, and much later, Lou inspired John to reconnect with the sax and learn various tunes so he could sit in to play. We sometimes add various musicians depending on our needs, most recently Terry Simpson on guitar and Bryden Williams on sax. The Sharkz Duo sometimes performs at Bleu in Mashpee, for their Sunday Jazz brunches. Check the Events page for our next appearance, on Sundays between September and May, 12 noon to 3 pm with a wonderful, responsive group of listeners. Hope to see you there on one of our future dates! Here's a sample of what you might hear. Jazz Jam
The third Sunday of every month, at Cape Cod Cultural Center, in South Yarmouth, 12-2:30 pm, offers a unique opportunity to hear an ever-changing blend of jazz artists of all ages and abilities. ($10 entry, performing musicians free.)
I had the pleasure to accompany the phenomenal Rebecca Parris
who sang a magical version of Victor Herbert's Indian Summer. Bart Weisman, one of the Cape's preeminent proponents of jazz, emcees the event, masterfully mixing and matching all the various artists.
Like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get at the jazz jam, but it's different every time, and always worth the trip! |
